The TS-1635AX also allows hardware expansion with two PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0 slots, enabling more functionality by adding a QM2 M.2 SSD/10GbE card, QWA-AC2600 wireless network card and/or USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps) card. The TS-1635AX offers high-capacity storage potential, high processing power, and high versatility for expansion, which all contribute to a next-gen storage system at a lowered total cost of ownership (TCO).
The two built-in 10GbE SFP+ ports empower mission-critical applications such as databases and large data transfer/storage. |
Install SSDs with four 2.5-inch drive bays and two M.2 SATA (2280 form factor) slots for enabling Qtier to boost performances. |
The two PCIe 3.0 slots (x2 and x1) can be used to install additional QM2 cards, network cards, and USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps) cards to expand NAS functionality. |
Snapshots add an extra layer of protection to your disaster recovery plans, giving you the flexibility to create and revert snapshots locally and/or remotely. |
The TS-1635AX supports containers (LXC and Docker®) and Linux command-line interface (CLI) virtual machines (VMs) for deploying diversified virtualization applications. |
The TS-1635AX can be used with QNAP's VJBOD technology to expand the capacity of other NAS. The capacity of the TS-1635AX can also be expanded by using QNAP expansion enclosures. |
Marvell® ARMADA® 8040 64-bit quad-core 1.6 GHz processor, 8 GB DDR4 RAM (up to 1 x 16 GB)
The TS-1635AX comes with four dedicated 2.5-inch drives bays and two M.2 SATA (2280 form factor) slots for installing SSDs*. With SSDs, you can enable the QNAP-exclusive Qtier 2.0, which offers both automatic tiered storage and cache-like mechanisms for both volumes and iSCSI LUNs. This allows the TS-1635AX to be further accelerated to meet the performance requirements of demanding applications and scenarios such as virtualization and 10GbE transmission.
*SSDs and HDDs sold separately.
QNAP's QM2 is a series of PCIe expansion cards that features dual M.2 SSD slots and/or 10GbE connectivity*. This allows users to easily set up SSD caching or Qtier to optimize NAS performance. 10GbE-compatible QM2 cards can also future proof the TS-1635AX for use with 10GBASE-T networks. Equipped with a dedicated cooling module, the QM2 can maintain its high performance even when tasked with the highest workloads.
*SSDs and HDDs sold separately. Selected models with 10GbE connectivity are backward compatible with 5GbE/2.5GbE/1GbE/100MbE network.
The TS-1635AX is 10GbE-ready with two 10GbE SFP+ ports for accelerating workflows without additional costs. For users without an existing 10GbE environment, the QNAP 10GbE/NBASE-T™ unmanaged switches are excellent choices for removing bottlenecks and to realize a streamlined data storage experience. For Windows/Linux PCs, the QXG-10G1T 10GBASE-T/NBASE-T PCIe expansion card can be installed to add 10GbE functionality for a complete high-speed LAN environment.
The TS-1635AX supports SMB/CIFS, NFS, and AFP protocols for file sharing across Windows, Mac, Linux/UNIX networks. Data can be centrally stored and protected by rigid security measures provided by the TS-1635AX. The Windows AD and LDAP services enable system administrators to configure user permissions by using an existing Windows AD server, LDAP server or built-in LDAP service. To sync data across devices, including mobile devices, simply install Qsync Central on the NAS and Qsync clients on other devices to enjoy a fast, private, secure and real-time file sync service.
A complete disaster recovery plan requires multiple layers of data protection and backups. The TS-1635AX can use snapshots to record the state of files and modifications to them at the block level, so you can quickly revert to previous versions should an accident (such as deletion or malware attack) occur. For added data security, the Hybrid Backup Sync app can help back up, restore and sync files to/from local external devices, remote NAS and public cloud services.
The TS-1635AX is powered by QTS, an intelligent app-driven operating system that provides key functionality such as Qtier, RAID 50/60 support, Qboost, OCR Converter, and much more. The QTS App Center also provides a wide range of apps from QNAP and trusted third-parties to boost the functionality and possibilities of the TS-1635AX.
The TS-1635AX supports versatile virtualization technologies such as containers (LXC and Docker®) and Linux command-line interface (CLI) virtual machines (VMs)*, so you can easily migrate existing applications to or deploy new solutions on the TS-1635AX. Virtual switches support several modes for connecting containers, VMs, NAS, and physical network interfaces for flexibly deploying business IT infrastructure while ensuring high security.
*The VM functionality will be available soon. The availability will be announced separately.
The Marvell ARMADA 8040 processor inside the TS-1635AX features hardware-accelerated encryption, and is capable of encrypting volumes and/or LUN with AES-256 encryption without sacrificing performance. Other security features include 2-step authentication, IP address filtering, virus and malware scanners, and much more. You can also set permissions for users and folders to block access from unauthorized users and apps.
As your business grows, so does your storage requirements. By using QNAP's Virtual JBOD (VJBOD) technology, the TS-1635AX's unused space can be allocated to and utilized by another QNAP NAS. For expanding the TS-1635AX's capacity, one UX-800P or UX-500P expansion enclosure can be used.

Configured system orders start here!
The selected drives are batch controlled and tested using our HDD and SSD servers. Passed drives are then installed in the NAS with Volume and RAID set. Our pre-burn testing prepares the NAS with an initial system and drive testing cycle to ensure that the integrity of the entire system is tested and passed with no issues at all.
Our stress testing (burn-test) cycle commences for a minimum of 24 hours and extends to 48 hours if requested or required. This is undertaken in order to ensure stability when used in a normal environment. These tests can include extremes of workload (constant I/O's), CPU and memory use, thermal load (heat), clock speed, or voltages, bus and connectivity components, with the primary stress testing software aiming to test stability by trying to force a system to fail. Our tests put a greater emphasis on robustness, availability and error handling heavy loads.
Once the tests are complete we QA and pack the system back into it's retail box. Then it's double boxed to protect the unit during shipping. You receive your QNAP NAS Ready To Plug 'N' Store. It doesn't get any easier. Buy your NAS from the QNAP EXPERTS at QNAP DIRECT.
